I'm Rachelle, a director of aesthetic excellence based in Toronto, New York City, and Lancaster, PA. I have a Master’s of Science in Textile Design from Philadelphia University. For over a decade, I have designed for three major global flooring manufacturers, achieving the role of Director of Design.

Rachelle M Roberts Design Studio offers consulting interior, decor, artwork, and custom design services, including a partnership with Marjan Fine Home Builders as the Vice President of Design & Development.

Consulting projects are available in both Canada and USA.

My original artwork is offered through Country House Gallery and is also available for limited quantities in print for flexible sizes and colors.

Throughout my entire career, I continued my Bachelor of Arts practice in Fine Art painting to create repeat pattern designs which are licensed for home and lifestyle products available at major retailer stores, most recently for Target.

I found my way to textile design on a trip to Paris after graduating with a painting degree in 2002. I was inspired to start making handbags from all the vintage fabrics I had collected and then also found in the basement of the tucked-away East Earl Goodwill. I started making handbags with a friend and called it Elles Design, and then eventually went off to study Textile Arts at Capilano College in the rainforest of North Vancouver.

I played with weaving, natural dyes, silkscreened and sewed my own clothing line called Blue Sagittarius and then was accepted into the Toronto Outdoor Art Show in 2007.

I worked in NYC for a bit with Pink Tartan and then with a love for William Morris I fell in love with the incredible library at Philadelphia University and started my Master’s Program. Ultimately I wanted to live and design in the world of Anthropologie, and eventually did fulfill this dream.

I became known for my PA Dutch folk art and the landscapes of Lancaster County. My Master’s Thesis looked at this artwork and combined in the style of other outsider naive artist such as Bill Traylor and Henry Darger named the collection The Garden Spot. Some other exploration was into the hex signs and connection to German Spiritual artists such as Emma Kunz.

In Philadelphia I interned at the Fabric Workshop under the now very well known artist Nick Cave. Another fun project was being connected to Rock Lititz and helping Beck to redesign his world tour aesthetics to look more like Foster the People style. He then went on to win at Grammy the following year and my artwork traveled the globe for several years.

Today I’ve taken all my experience to launch my own endeavors and live my dual citizen life between Canada and the US. I do a majority of my painting at the Pennsylvania Country House and then back and forth for interior projects in Ontario and New York.
